Karen Janowsky
Karen Janowsky

Karen Janowsky has been practicing yoga since 1993, mostly in the Kripalu tradition. She earned her yoga teacher certification in 2010, and her certification with LifeForce Yoga® for Depression and Anxiety in 2012. Karen’s journey from depression included many avenues of healing, but the one constant that always led her into light was her yoga practice. Yoga has brought her to a place of deep gratitude and compassion, and to her own life’s intention, to help guide others out of the darkness that is depression and anxiety. Her classes feature gentle, flowing sequences and attention to alignment as students work towards greater flexibility and strength. Her intentions are to create a safe, nurturing environment that allows students to re-awaken their innate creativity and curiosity, and to benefit from the stress-reducing gifts which yoga has to offer. Karen holds a M.A. in English, with an emphasis in Creative Writing, from Florida State University. In addition to yoga, she periodically teaches philosophy and English part-time at the College of Southern Maryland.

As well as teaching our Tai Chi classes. Sifu Therrien offers personal consulting for prescriptive Qigong and traditional Chinese herbal formulas. It is his hope to honor his teachers through empowering others to take advantage of the beauty and simplicity of these traditions.
